Thock It: Keyboard Sounds for Mac · Effective 7 October 2026

Thock It does not collect any data. It has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Nothing about you or your typing is sent to us or to anyone else. Everything described below happens on your Mac.

Key presses

Thock It plays a sound when you press a key. To notice key presses in other apps, macOS asks you to allow Thock It under System Settings › Privacy & Security › Input Monitoring.

• Thock It uses which key was pressed only to choose the matching sound and its stereo position, then discards it.
• It never records, stores or sends the text you type.
• macOS hides password fields and other secure input from Thock It.

Typing stats

Thock It counts how many keys you press each day to show your stats, streak and heatmap. Only the daily counts are kept, in Thock It's settings on your Mac. You can reset them at any time in Settings › Stats.

Quiet Mode

Quiet Mode is optional. To decide when to go quiet, Thock It checks the following on your Mac, only for the rules you turn on:

• Whether any app is using the microphone or a camera. Thock It sees only whether they are in use; it never turns on, listens to or looks through them.
• Whether another app is playing audio, and which audio output is active.
• Whether an external keyboard is connected, and whether Low Power Mode is on.
• Which app is in front, if you limit Thock It to certain apps.
• Your calendar, if you turn on the meeting rule. macOS asks for permission first. Thock It reads only whether a busy event is happening right now and keeps nothing.

None of this is stored or sent anywhere.

Notifications

If you turn them on, Thock It shows a local notification when it goes quiet or plays again. Notifications are created on your Mac and never sent through a server.

Purchases

Thock It Pro is bought through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the payment; Thock It only learns whether Pro is unlocked. Apple's privacy policy applies to the purchase.

This website

The Thock It pages load no analytics, ads, cookies or third-party scripts. The keycap sounds you try here play in your browser.

Children

Thock It collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
