Is Thock It free?
Yes. Thock It is free with the Ink keycap, volume control, stats and open at login. Thock It Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks all 25 keycaps, Quiet Mode and sound shaping. There is no subscription.
Does it work with my MacBook's built-in keyboard?
Yes. Thock It plays its sound for any keyboard: the built-in one on a MacBook, a Bluetooth keyboard or one plugged in by USB.
Why does Thock It need Input Monitoring?
macOS asks for this permission for any app that reacts to key presses in other apps. Thock It uses it only to play a sound. It never records or sends what you type, and macOS hides password fields from it. The welcome window walks you through switching it on in System Settings.
Will the sound keep up with fast typing?
Yes. Thock It's audio engine is built for low latency, so even quick bursts sound right. Built-in speakers and wired headphones play instantly; Bluetooth headphones add a small delay of their own.
Can Thock It go quiet during calls and meetings?
Yes, with Quiet Mode in Thock It Pro. It goes quiet when the microphone or camera is in use, during calendar meetings, while other apps play audio, when an external keyboard is connected, in Low Power Mode and during quiet hours you set. You choose which rules apply.
Which Macs does Thock It run on?
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Does Thock It collect any data?
No. Thock It works offline, needs no account and has no ads or tracking. Your typing stats stay on your Mac. Read the privacy policy.
